From a homogenous terroir of clay soils over a bed of limestone, this blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc is a limited production cuvee of approximately 300 cases. Significant amounts of structure, tannin, and muscle are found in this wine as well as a liquid mineral characteristic intertwined with dense fruit (blackberries and cassis), forest floor, and incense. This full-bodied effort appears to represent a more structured, mineral-laced style than proprietor Jonathan Maltus- more fruit-driven Laforge and Teyssier cuvees. This wine will require 2-4 years of cellaring, and should last for 15-20 years. Drink 2011-2031.
