Chateau des Tours is the family estate of Emmanuel Raynaud, fourth generation of wine growers who took over from his father at Château des Tours in 1997 and also at the famous Chateau Rayas after the death of his uncle Jacques Reynaud. His wines are based upon very old Grenache vines, giving wines of little colour but great intensity of aroma and flavour.
2010 Vacqueyras is made from Grenache (80%) and Syrah. It is bright red. Heady aromas of candied red fruits, cherry pit and anise, with a suave floral note emerging with aeration. Rich but lively, offering sharply focused bitter cherry and raspberry flavours that are given spine by juicy acidity. Fine-grained tannins give grip to the persistent finish, which strongly echoes the cherry note.
