2012 Clos Mogador Manyetes Vi de Vila Gratallops, Priorat, Spain

A wine that seems to be going from strength to strength and behaves well in the most difficult conditions, the 2012 Manyetes Vi de Vila Gratallops took me to the rusticity of the Priorat landscape with its aromas of tree bark and dusty slate. It feels extremely young and undeveloped, as if it was a lot younger. The palate is solid, built like a weightlifter with the nerve and muscle of a long distance runner. This is, of course, pure Cariñena from an extremely old vineyard in a very poor part of Gratallops, cropped from a very dry year. This has all the components to have a long life in bottle.
