2012 Peter Lehmann Wigan Riesling, Eden Valley

Andrew Wigan has had a hand in every Peter Lehmann wine since the first vintage in 1980. He revolutionised white winemaking with his passion for Riesling. This wine is named in his honour.

From the shallow rocky soils of the Eden Valley – one of the great Riesling sites of the world – the Wigan Riesling has become one of Australia’s most celebrated wines. It has been named ‘Best Riesling in the World’ in the International Wine and Spirit Competition six times in the past decade, and accumulated more than 80 trophies since its inaugural vintage as ‘Wigan’ in 2003 (previously ‘Reserve’ Riesling).  

Colour is vibrant lemon with a green tinge. Wigan Riesling displays the classic Eden Valley lime juice characters, with hints of honeyed bottle age character already showing through. A mature wine with remarkable youth on the palate.

It's toasty yet fresh. It's complex yet approachable. A glorious amalgam of flavours from glace lemon and lime, juicy with superfine acidity ensuring it's in a good spot today and for some time yet.
