When tasting Chockstone Shiraz you wonder what Hard Hill Road could possibly bring to the table that isn't already there; the answer is the unexpected elegance, and the glimmer of red fruit of this wine; the tannins are fine and silky, the medium-bodied palate very long, new French oak lurking in the background.

Deep red colour with a good rim of purple. The wine is very full-bodied and powerful, driving and muscular, with massive structure and grip. There's more ironstone, pepper and spice than in the '12. Left for a month to sit on its skins after fermentation the wine finally matured in French and American Oak puncheons for further 18 months.
2013 Hard Hill Road Shiraz shows intense flavours of blackberry, licorice, dark chocolate and black pepper. Secondary notes of tar, gunsmoke and cured meats add an element of the exotic sitting comfortably atop a fine tannin backbone.
Built to last (20+ years) the underlying structure is refined and complex providing for a long and evolved finish.
