Coates 2015 The Syrah was matured in 25% new French barriques and 75% used French and Russian barrels. The wine spent 20 months in wood. The traditional and natural approach used to make this wine means no additives such as tannins, enzymes, eggs, fish or milk products were used. No fining nor filtering. Spent further 6 months in the bottle prior to release.
The Syrah is deep crimson red in colour. Vibrant aromas of mulberry and raspberry accompanied by mocha, roasted spice and subtle forest floor notes. Plush and softly textured on the palate with black fruits interwoven with earth, liquorice and game nuances. The lingering finish is supported by layers of soft velvety tannin. Drink now to 2025.
