Bricco Giubellini is easily the most exciting young Barolo producer I have tasted for some time. Antonio Galloni
Established in 2000, Bricco Giubellini is the highest vineyard in Monforte d’Alba at 530 metres and the smallest single vineyard at just 0.33 hectares. The wine, made by Fabio Fantino, has until recently only been available locally – locally, as in the village of Monforte!
The 2015 Barolo from Bricco Giubellini is absolutely gorgeous. Bright, floral and lifted, the Barolo captures all the fruit intensity and radiance that is typical of the year, with the support of the saline underpinnings that are such a signature of Barolos from Monforte, especially this high-altitude district above town. Sweet red berry fruit, flowers, mint and chalk all run through this super-expressive Barolo. The Bricco Giubellini Barolo has been a distinctive wine from the very beginning, in 2003. The 2015 is especially strong.
