2015 Chandon de Briailles Corton-Bressandes Grand Cru, Cote de Beaune

Bressandes vineyard with an average age of 30+ years produces intense wine with lots of meaty depth, a tightly coiled, mineral palate and a structure that pleads to be cellared. Having said that, the 2015 is a wonderfully refined example with lots of both dark and red cherry fruit, red florals, crushed spice and fine, bright tannins. Fleshy and seductive until the structure kicks in. This is terrific. 70% whole bunches and only 15% new oak.

‘A markedly ripe yet elegant nose that consists of rose petal, plum liqueur, lilac, spice and wet stone aromas is trimmed in enough wood to notice. The very rich, intense and wonderfully vibrant big-bodied flavours evidence obvious minerality on the mouth coating and impressively long finish. This is a big and refined effort that is very much built-to-age so patience required.’
