This striking, incandescent Corton-Charlemagne comes from two, high sited, small parcels (totalling 0.25 hectares) in the southwest-facing, silty limestone marls of En Charlemagne. These parcels were planted in 1984/1985 and 1988/1989 and the vines have been organically managed since 2008. Raised with a little new oak (the 2016 was vinified entirely in used barrels), Croix's 2015 is one of the most explosive '15 whites we tasted in Burgundy last year. Croix took the wine out of oak early to spend six months in stainless steel, maximizing the wine's energy and freshness. A thrilling grand cru crammed with mouth coating fruit shot through with ripe, crunchy acidity and a long chalky close. A Corton de terroir of some magnitude.
