Crafted true to it’s heritage as an icon of the Margaret River, Rebus Cabernet Sauvignon has made lots of friends since first released in 2012. The 2015 version of Rebus was matured 12 months in 40% new French oak barriques where parcels of fruit were fermented and matured separately.
The resultant wine is an intricate tapestry of glazed cherries, violets and graphite, deftly woven into a palate laden with flavours of red currants, cacao nib and plum skin. Bristling tannin on the entry and a tensile core of liquorish, black berries and slate, culminates in a persistent and ever-changing mineral finish. It is delicious for drinking now (with Angus steak and strong cheese), but it wouldn’t hurt cellaring it next 5-6 years. 13.8% Alc/Vol.
Bright colour; a winemaker’s cabernet, with a fragrant cassis-accented bouquet book-ending with persistent tannins typical of cabernet, gliding elegantly along the medium-bodied palate between the book ends.’
