The Glaetzer family has been a part the Barossa Valley and its viticulture history since 1888. After 30 years in winemaking, Colin Glaetzer established the family winery to create wines he’s passionate about – limited quantities of benchmark Barossa Valley reds. Today, son Ben carries on with this winemaking tradition with Glatzer wines.
82% shiraz, 18% cabernet sauvignon from low-yielding 30-100yo vines in the Ebenezer district, open-fermented, hand-plunged three times daily, matured for 16 months in new French (92%) and American (8%) hogsheads, unfiltered. A very good example of full-bodied Barossa Valley shiraz, the cabernet simply riding shotgun; the palate has exceptional depth to its layers of black fruits, licorice, earth, oak and tannins, but emerges with perfect balance.
