Very good vintage in Barossa Valley with mild temperatures during December and January coupled with good end of January rain setting up the vines nicely for the ripening period. As a result the 2015 vintage wines have deep, vibrant colours, savoury tannins and rich, seductive flavours.
The 2015 Bishop is deep purple. Layers of violets and cloves are evident on the nose with hints of mulberry and dark chocolate. Great purity of dark fruits and cut plums on the palate with firm, savoury tannins, complete the offering. The depth and harmony are very impressive. Glaetzer Bishop is a true expression of Barossa Shiraz that is drinking now and will improve over the next 10 years.
95 points – James Halliday
In classic Glaetzer style, full-bodied and taking no prisoners. Black fruits, licorice, dark chocolate, ripe tannins and oak are woven together so tightly it's hard to tell where one starts and/or another finishes. It's not my style, but it's hard to deny the quality.
