The Cliff Edge Shiraz is 100% estate grown, showcasing the Shiraz vine’s affinity for the granite slopes of Mount Langi Ghiran. The vintage provided good conditions for grape growing, with a dry and reasonably warm season. Due to a cold snap in spring the crops were low yielding resulting in high quality fruit with intense flavours and complexity. Small batches and an array of winemaking techniques, including a portion of whole bunch fermentation, accentuate the subtle nuances of florals and spice found throughout the vineyard, creating a wine with individuality.
The 2015 Cliff Edge Shiraz is deep garnet with purple hues. Boysenberry, blackberry and cherry fruits, laced with cocoa, clove and pepper spice dominate the nose. Intense red and black cherry fruits dominate the palate, heightened by the growing presence of blue florals and pepper spice. Chewy tannins, subtle oak and fine acidity achieve amazing length and balance.

‘Small batches variously open-fermented, plunged, a portion of whole bunches, some pigeage, matured in French oak (20% new) for 15 months. An immaculately balanced and structured wine, effortless in its medium-bodied guise, delivering juicy red fruits, cedar and spice on a bed of feathery tannins. J.S. Bach harpsichord.’
