2015 Vincent Girardin Bienvenues-Batard Montrachet Grand Cru,Restrained at first, then slowly opens up to reveal a palate of yellow, peach and nashi pear. A tart edge comes via a mineral hit. This quickly subsides being replaced by a creamy apricot profile. Will get better and better.
‘A difficult nose is presently composed of leesy reductive notes. Otherwise there is a sleeker and more refined if less powerful mouth feel to the medium-bodied flavors that are also blessed with plenty of sappy dry extract on the even more complex if not necessarily more persistent finale. Lovely stuff and this is one of the relatively few 2015s that is clearly built-to- age.’
