The Adelé range has a dedicated focus on Natural and Biodynamic principles, which revolve around the guiding philosophy of minimal intervention in both the vineyard and winery. The wines are all fermented from indigenous yeasts, using skin contact and whole bunches. No sulphur is used and the wines are 100% unfiltered.
They are produced in genuine small batches, with an average production of only 100 dozen per year. Winemaker Ben Ranken has just been named a Young Gun Finalist in the 2019 Young Guns of Wine Awards.
Sunbury grigio. Half the fruit sees skin contact, the lot hangs out in barrels. The wine is produced according to biodynamic principles/lunar cycles. A marked increase in quality and interest in these wines from this current release/tasting that I undertook with winemaker Ben Rankin. A producer to invest time and drinking in.
Big hit of warm spice, clove and cinnamon, spiced apples, pear juice – that’s the bouquet. The palate shows rich pear flavours, more brown spice, chalkiness in texture, finishes chewy and with a light, savoury twist. Complex wine, detailed and interesting.
