Chateau Raymond Lafon was founded in 1850 by Raymond Lafon who passed it to nephew Louis Pontallier, whose grandson Paul was a director of Chateau Margaux for almost 30 years, In 1952 Louis sold the chateau and vineyards to Bourdier familty who 20 years later sold it to Pierre Meslier, the ex-managing director of Chateau d'Yquem.
It should not come as much of a surprise that Raymond Lafon is produced in the exact same fashion that is used at Chateau d'Yquem.
Pale to medium lemon colored, the 2016 Raymond-Lafon offers up expressive tropical fruit notes of pineapple upside down cake, green mangos and passion fruit with hints of yeast extract, cedar chest and Manuka honey. The sweet, sexy palate sports fantastic concentration with bags of rich, exotic fruits and a long, honeyed finish.Drink 2019-2035.
