2015 Faiveley Bienvenues Batard Montrachet Grand Cru, Cote d'Or, Burgundy. Big golden delicious apple with nashi pear nose. The palate reflects the nose, with a rich lemon meyer edge. There is restrained tropical notes, tight acid backbone. The oak is warm and comforting. Given the high quality fruit , this wine will just get better. Scallops in a lemon white wine sauce would make a happy match.
Like the Blagny, the fruit is overwhelmed by the strong reduction and wood influences. The caressing and notably finer medium-bodied flavours possess very good mid-palate density while displaying focused power on the balanced and sneaky long finish. This needs to develop more depth but the underlying material appears to be present such that it should be able to do that. Drink 2026+.
