Medium to light straw colour, the bouquet nutty, complex, with some malt and almond nuances, and a little smokiness from very low-level sulfides. The wine is delicate, refined and restrained, the palate bright and crisp and subtle but also muti-layered. An excellent chardonnay. Just fades a smidgin on the follow-through. Clear varietal expression a la Montalto, with its subtle interlay between the fruit and its bandmaster Simon Black. The grapefruit component to the palate isn't overblown, it's an important part of a wine that has as much complexity as drive.
