2016 Willi Schaefer Graacher Riesling Feinherb is more of the fruit-driven style of riesling. Ripe apple and pear dominates initially, but gives way to soft meringue-like lime lemon. There is a little of drying mineral elements. Great match for Vietnamese pork rolls.
"Apple blossom and ripe apple aromas on the nose make for a riper aromatic impression than conveyed by the corresponding legally dry generic, and that difference may be partly due to the bit more residual sugar, as sugar is hardly a component whose influence is limited to a Riesling’s palate impression. The palate here is subtly silken and quite luscious, with quince and Persian melon joining the apple. Piquant nuttiness and a kiss of slate lend counterpoint to a poised, barely off-dry finish."
