As always, the wine is a delicious expression of the grape, the site and the season. A deep crimson colour, with arresting aromas and succulent dark plum and black cherry palate. The aroma and flavour purity has an abundance of complexity, colour and tannins typical of the site.
This is Freycinet at its best, red fruits opening proceedings, then standing back for forest floor to bring complexity front and centre. Those pure and perfectly ripened cherry/strawberry/raspberry fruits then reassert their prime role in a pinot that has years to go, tannins and acidity their guidelines.
96 points James Halliday
Fresh, bright red cherry and spice aromas, touches of chinotto, the palate intense and fresh, clean and balanced, bright and on the ethereal side of the ledger. Fine, taut tannins. A gorgeous wine. It's firm and tight and has a future.29 JAN 2019 Drink 2019–2029
