Vistamare is a very limited production wine and the only white wine produced by the Ca‘ Marcanda estate, providing wine collectors with a true gem: Angelo Gaja’s exclusive expression of Tuscan white wine.
Intense floral notes of acacia and linden flowers. The refreshing presence of Fiano gives notes of fern, musk and menthol. On the palate, it is fresh and compact with notes of bergamot, pear, nectarine and white currant. Then it shifts toward a more mineral and spicy character, with notes of flint, rosemary, saffron. The wine gets riper in the finish with hints of mango, almond and fig leaves.
The 2017 Vistamare is a blend of 45% Vermentino, 40% Viognier and 15% Fiano. The Vermentino and Fiano are fermented in stainless steel, while the Viognier goes into wood—some with lees aging and some not, to avoid it being too heavy and fat. The vines are shaded, thanks to the leafy canopy (with a view of the sea in Bibbona, hence the name "vistamare"), to keep the fruit cool and to preserve the acidity. The 2017 vintage shows concentrated freshness with Mediterranean notes of mint and sage.
