A sumptuous delight. On the nose ripe plums, vanilla, sweet spices, wild strawberries, red cherries, damson, crisp autumn leaves and an earthy forest floor.
The complex array of flavours on the palate show the quality of the fruit as well as the thoughtful winemaking that has gone into this wine. A mixture of destemmed and whole bunches of fruit brings silky, ripe and supple tannins alongside ripe plums, red cherries, strawberries, spiced cranberry, licorice, roasted coffee beans, earthiness and chocolatey notes. The wine has been matured in a combination of french barriques, hogshead and puncheons, with around 20% of them being new, which brings a combination of darker savoury notes, sweet spices such as nutmeg, cinnamon, vanilla and clove which compliment the vibrant and juicy fresh fruit heart and its crisp acidity. One to tuck away in the cellar for a few years. Drink 2020 - 2028

Deepish red colour with a good purple tinge, the bouquet very bunchy and vegetal, but also sweetly fragrant and a little stewed. It is quite detailed. Morello cherry. Touches of root vegetables. Developed complexity is starting up. The finish is very rich, then savoury and well-supplied with softly drying tannins. An opulent style of pinot with a long carry. Drink 2021 to 2030
