Riesling is a true hero of the Great Southern - demanding, sensitive yet tough enough to thrive in the vagaries of this cool, dry climate. Wines crafted from Riesling are exceptionally revealing and critical of the environment in which they grow, and the human interactions engaged to create them.
This is a new release under the Howard park label. Fruit, floral and spice notes of bush lime, lemon myrtle, native frangipani and star anise make for an enticing bouquet. Bright citrus, juicy red apples and rich beurré bosc pear provide fruit volume and a suppleness of texture to the palate. Fine savoury/ mineral notes and a tangy acidity give crispness and balance to finish.
A cool-climate riesling that slides down easily. The palate has charm and grace with soft corners and beautiful balance. Nothing screams or shouts; it all presents in perfect harmony, and I adore its composure. A wine to serve with confidence whatever the occasion 17 SEP 2017 Drink 2017–2022
