The vines are worked by horse and plough to the standards rarely seen even at Grand Cru blanc levels. The Bret’s 2017s were raised in barrel for eleven months before resting for six months in stainless steel prior to bottling. This is a strikingly pretty white Burgundy with a ripe and yet taut palate offering a mixed stone fruit core, vibrant lemon zest freshness and a crunchy, bracing finish. Class in a glass.
“Here the wood treatment is more evident though to be clear, it stops well short of being intrusive on the array of essence of white orchard fruit, lemon and discreet floral nuances. There is once again excellent richness yet also fine vibrancy to the medium-bodied flavors that culminate in a saline if slightly rustic finish that offer solid depth and length.”
