Yakka is named after the hardy Xanthorrhoea flowering plant which is ubiquitous in Australia and found around Longview's perimeter.
Matured for 15 months in old and new French barriques, the wine displays vibrant blue fruits, spice, flavours of dark chocolate and coffee. This elegant, cool-climate shiraz is medium bodied, and finishes with a delicious vanillin length and velvety texture. Like the Yakka, it is dramatic and structured and will thrive in most occasions. Yakka is as complex as the plant we’ve named it after and, whilst excellent to drink now, it will also benefit with 10+ years cellaring.
2017 Yakka Shiraz has a dark violet hue, with lifted aromas of black cherries and plum, baking spices and fresh wet earth. The palate is plush and bright with silky smooth tannins.True to vintage this wine delivers great structure and elegance. Excellent to drink now and will benefit with 10+ years cellaring. 14% Alcohol.
Deep red colour with good tinges of purple and a chocolate, vanilla and blackberry bouquet, the palate powerful and concentrated, with a warmth of alcohol and meaty nuances. The wine is bright and incisive, piercing and long. A quite impressive, profound yet elegant shiraz. Delicious drinking.
