The Rocca family understand quality Moscato. In fact, it was sisters Daniela and Monica Rocca who insisted we visit Ca’ d’Gal—the benchmark Moscato producer whose wines we now import.
Rocca’s Moscato d’Asti comes from 2.5-hectares of 30-year-old vines in the commune of San Rocco Seno d'Elvio in Barbaresco. More specifically, the vines sit in the Montersino Cru in the southern and highest part of the appellation at 350 metres above sea level—so not a typical source.
The mature vines and limestone-rich soil here combine to give a wine of tremendous energy and freshness with lovely chamomile, citrus and stone fruit aromatics.
