It shows an elegant mix of flowers and fruit, bouquet is very pleasant, with a good array of varietal aromas such as pear Williams, banana, apricot and Acacia flowers.Taste is reminiscent of pear syrup and quince peel. Good acid balance good body and long finish. Mature wines have a bouquet of toasted almonds and straw.
Drink it now and over next 3-4 years with white meat and pasta dishes.The Di Lenardo family has cultivated vines in the town of Ontagnano (south of Udine in the Friuli region) dating back to the early 1800's. Today they produce wines from their four large holdings in Ontagnano, as well as rented vineyards close to Aquileia.
Since the 1998 vintage, the winemaking direction was taken by Massimo Di Lenardo whose philosophy is to emphasise the grape's pure fruitiness and acidity without the masking effects of oak.
Grapes are picked strictly by hand, and refined methods of vinification, including electronically temperature controlled fermentation ensure the quality, structure and flavour of the resulting wines.
At present, the Di Lenardo winery is considered among the best quality brands in the Friulian Grave wine zone as well as the most technically-advanced. Since 2009 they have been running the cellar on solar energy generated by the cells which fully cover the roof of their warehouse. Highlights from their affordable range include the Pinot Grigio and Chardonnay.
