Exhibiting notes of white currants, fresh peach, apples and spring flowers, the 2018 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Vide Bourse is medium to full-bodied, satiny and textural, with a layered, almost incautious core of fruit, chalky structuring extract and fine length on the finish. As usual, this is one of the riper, more dramatic wines in the range.

There is a hint of phenolic character (think olive or nut oil) to the ripe and lightly exotic if restrained aromas of white flower, white peach and softly spicy and citrus nuances. There is knockout intensity to the chiseled middle weight plus flavors that deliver excellent persistence. Like the Chassagne villages, this needs to develop more depth and that may well occur in time.
