The small batch collection wines are crafted from small parcels of fruit that capture the attention of Giesen winemakers. These parcels are individually tended to in the winery to ensure they truly represent the vineyard.
This bold and beautiful Sauvignon Blanc is predominately from the Awatere Valley, Marlborough. Bright aromatic notes of blackcurrant leaf, green pineapple and crushed nettle. A mouth-watering crispness of grapefruit and flintiness with a delicate smoky oak on the finish.
Compared to the Wairau Valley, the Awatere Valley is slightly cooler, drier, windier with higher elevation.
Using Sauvignon Blanc fruit from the Awatere gives tropical aromatics such as grilled pineapple and dry herbs. Awatere delivers more texture and has more age ability. This small batch sauvignon blanc is rich with wonderful tropical notes that interplay with crushed nettle and cut apple aromas.
