In a vintage like 2020 Black Guts really sings. "A new world wine made in an old world way" The aim here is to express the beautiful vineyard in Vine Vale.
Rich opulent and full of power this is a colt itching to run. Dark brooding aromatics of licorice, coffee, mocha, and violets followed by a lick of new oak that will fold in beautifully with time. The palate features lashings of fruit over glorious fruit with tannic grip and acid freshness ensuring a long life.
The Rusden Vineyard is nestled on the deep Vine Vale sand in the foothills below the eastern Barossa Ranges. The early pioneers carved this area out of cypress, blue gum and wattle woodland, once know as Bethany Sandscrub. The old vines are traditionally cared for and hand tended to ensure their longevity and benefit for future generations. A minimalist approach to winemaking results in an honest representation of the variety. This is a New World wine made in an Old World style to produce a fruit driven wine with dimension, character and balance.
