The impressive 2015 Hermitage looks to have closed down already. Cedary notes dominate the aromas, while concentrated cherries appear on the richly textured, chewy palate. This powerful, tannic wine needs at least another 5 years in the cellar, but it should come out the other side of this funk in fine shape. Drink: 2023-2040 Nov 2018

Deep ruby. Explosive, smoke-accented aromas of blackcurrant, cherry pit, violet oil and olive, with a peppery element adding lift. Broad and deeply concentrated on the palate, offering an array of alluringly sweet dark fruit and spice flavors. A massive but graceful Hermitage with strong finishing grip and slow-building tannins.
