Creamy and with a surprising midpalate sense of softness, this is dominated by piquantly seed-tinged, lightly cooked apple. It finishes with undeniably soothing appeal and impressive sheer persistence, but – in what strikes me as an effect of malolactic transformation – with a surprisingly rounded-off impression that misses the animation, juiciness or clarity that characterizes most of Molitor’s 2016s. I regret that I couldn’t revisit this.
