Bright deep garnet. Aroma/Bouquet: Savoury ripe dark and red cherry, brambly fruits with a hint of smoky oak. Palate: Full-bodied wine with round, mouth filling flavours of plum, brambly fruit and dark cherry. The oak integrates nicely with the fruit, and combines well with the silky and linear tannin structure. This wine should cellar well until at least 2020.

“Ripe, very vibrant and varietal with dark cherry and plum, dried herb and spicy with some new oak influences and light smoke moments, quite complex and intriguing. Dry, fruity and firmly textured with medium+ tannins and acid to match. Light dried herb layer and toasty wood tones. Balanced and well made. Drink now and through 2024.” April, 2018

“The 2016 vintage (4.5*) was grown at several sites, from the Waihopai Valley to Kekerengu, hand-picked, fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured for 10 months in French oak barriques (25 per cent new). Full ruby, it is floral, sweet-fruited and supple, with cherry, plum and spice flavours, well-integrated oak, gentle acidity, and a long, harmonious finish. Offering great value, it's already delicious, but should be at its best mid-2019+.”
