2014 ORIGINAL TASTING NOTES at the time of first release
The 2014 vintage had a very hot January with relief in the form of rain in early February, which freshened up the vines and allowed slow flavour development over the following three weeks. This 2014 Riesling is extremely aromatic, showing riper than usual flavours that push into the stone fruit spectrum with a generosity - but also delicacy - to the fruit. It’s immediately drinkable but also has enough backbone for the long haul.
From a 44yo dry-grown vineyard, hand-picked, chilled overnight, then whole bunch pressed. Apple and lemon blossom fragrance sets the scene for a particularly elegant and focused palate; while still in a primary phase, and very delicate, it has utterly perfect line, length and balance.
