Exposed south-east, Rully’s 1er Cru Les Cloux vineyard is located just above 1er Cru Chapitre on the classic clay-limestone mix that is found across the best sites in Burgundy. This is a site known for its ability to balance mouth-watering flesh with tangy grip and fine length, and in 2017 you can take that to the bank. This 100% Chardonnay was fermented and aged in older barrels (up to seven years old) for 12 months, and bottled after only a light filtration. The 2017 is summed up nicely below. Quality 1er Cru white Burgundy? Yes please!
A gently oaked and softly exotic array is comprised by notes of pineapple, white flower, pear and a whiff of orange marmalade. Here too the medium-bodied flavors are both seductive and quite generously proportioned with excellent richness to the sappy and bitter lemon-infused finish that flashes just a bit more energy plus a touch of salinity helps to add some backend lift. Lovely.

"The 2017 Rully 1er Cru Les Cloux wafts from the glass with aromas of fresh peach, yellow apples, Anjou pear, white flowers and pastry cream. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, ample and succulent, with a racier, tighter-knit profile than the Mont-Palais--which is typical of this site."
