From a miniscule plot 0.66ha planted in 1968. Southeast-facing, on the slopes of Mont Brouilly, soils and bedrock of granite with blue rocks. 25% whole cluster (in 2016), indigenous yeast. Fermentation in concrete tank, extraction by punch-downs and pump-overs. One year aging in older 228 and 350-liter barrels, with racking in the spring.

The 2017 Côte de Brouilly has a sensual, refined, pure bouquet with macerated red cherries, kirsch and orange blossom, almost Pinot Noir-like in style. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannin, more black fruit than red. Dense on the finish. This would be my pick from Lafarge-Vial's Beaujolais this vintage. Drink 2021-30

Brawnier and more rustic than the Fleurie cuvées, the 2017 Côte de Brouilly exhibits aromas of dark chocolate, cassis and plums. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, firm and chewy, with a fleshy core of fruit.
