The 35 hectare Left Bank vineyard of Chateau Bernadotte is planted to 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot.
This has a very plush and slightly spicy palate with earthy notes as well as a gravelly, slightly leafy edge. The palate has a very composed core of fine, long tannins that finishes with gently grippy freshness. Try from 2021.

The 2015 Bernadotte has a lovely, lilting redcurrant and cranberry-scented bouquet, the oak nicely integrated, fresh and lively with tobacco coming through with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin, quite light for this vintage, but balanced, with a ‘breezy’ brambly red berry finish. Easy-going Haut-Médoc. Tasted March 2016. Drink 2018-2028.
