The 38 hectare Medoc vineyard of Chateau Capbern is planted to 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot, 1% Petit Verdot with the vines close to 30 years old.
Vinification takes place in stainless steel vats. Malolactic fermentation takes place in tank. The wine is aged for 18 months in close to 60% new, French oak barrels.
Chateau Capbern can be drunk early but for the maximum enjoyment drink it 10-17 years from vintage
This is a gorgeous young sample with wonderful blue fruit and spices, as well as a nice overlay of pretty wood. Medium to full body and firm, silky tannins. Hints of minerals. Better than 2018.
