The Cuvée Classique (as it's known) is drawn from the domaine's parcels on the mid slope of the Clos surrounding the Château (pictured on the label), as well vines on the lower and upper parts of the slope. These vineyards have been managed organically for well over 20 years and average around 50-60 years of age. 100% whole bunch, no added yeasts and the wine is aged in 50% new oak of which the barrels are fashioned according to each season by Stéphane Chassin in Charente. There's already a superb balance here and impressive old vine intensity. Expect lifted perfumes of fresh berries, red cherries and ground, brown spices, excellent texture and lovely fruit sweetness that is balanced by the powdery tannins on the finish. It's a pretty, yet impressively deep Cuvée Classique, one that you could happily nurture in the glass for several hours (if the bottle lasts that long!)

A dense nose features notes of very ripe plum, cassis, violet, spice, earth and sandalwood nuances.
There is excellent intensity and power to the concentrated middle weight plus flavors that possess an abundance of dry extract that pushes the very firm core of tannins to the background on the moderately austere, complex and wonderfully long finish. This is solidly well-balanced and while firm it's not hard or rustic.

Black cherry and licorice on the ripe but cool nose. Concentrated and deep but light on its feet, showing strong minerality and inner-mouth tension. More energetic than the 2014 and very primary today. Finishes tactile, fresh and long.

Rich and concentrated, with a dense layer of tannins supporting black cherry, plum, black pepper, earth and mineral flavors. Shows depth and energy, fading with harmony and grace on the long finish of iron, fruit and spice. Best from 2020 through 2036.
