"The man is a superstar, whose Pinots are up there with the very best." Tim Atkin, Master of Wine
Hanspeter Ziereisen has amplified the skin-contact to give a firm textural backbone to match the increased fruit density.
Vinified in large oak vats and aged on the full lees for 18 months, the slightly pink-colored 2018 Grauer Burgunder is pure and flinty on the still-reductive and yeast-dominated nose that is terribly fresh and shows lime juice and notes of crushed stones. Fresh and pure on the palate, with subtle intensity and a silky texture, this is an elegant, tightly structured and persistently mineral Pinot Gris in a pretty unique style. It is still terribly young but very promising. Excellent!
