Domaine Font de Michelle Tradition is produced from a blend of 70% Grenache, 10% Syrah 10% Mourvedre and 10% Cinsault. A portion of their fruit is whole cluster vinified. It is also interesting to note that some of the parcels are co fermented, meaning the various grape varieties are vinified together.
The Gonnet family has moved all of their production under this label from what was formerly Font de Michelle in Chateauneuf du Pape. The dynamic Guillaume Gonnet is the winemaker and manager (he also has his own label, plus a new estate called Domaine Clos du Roi, both run with the assistance of his Australian-born wife, Kelly). The overall philosophy is one of minimal intervention in the winery, with gentle extraction and not much wood to achieve balance in the finished wines.
