“A magnificent winemaker, one of the world’s finest. Glorious, pleasurable but extraordinarily complex, savoury and compelling. Wines of purity, integrity and restraint, but understated power and intensity.”
John Gilman:
“Wines that legends are made of. One of the most serious ranges to be found in Germany.”
A rather reduced nose of passionfruit, herbs, mirabelle, citrus and fine herbs. Remarkably racy and leaves an almost searing feel in the long and almost dry-tasting finish. One of the few off-dry wines in the vintage for acidity lovers. There is some upside if the acidity integrates with bottle ageing.
Mosel Fine Wine Drink 2022-32
The bouquet is pure and quite expressive, wafting in a mix of pear, fresh pineapple, salty slate minerality, a touch of bee pollen and a topnote of apple blossoms. On the palate it is medium full, pure and nicely juicy at the core, with lovely backend minerality, excellent focus and line and a long, bouncy, complex and flatout delicious finish. I really like the balance and vibrancy.
