Compact, juicy and expansive, this single-plot pinot is very good. 15% whole-bunch fruit was used in the fermentation, before 11 months' maturation in French oak. This approach seems to have attenuated and polymerised the tannins, smoothing away any brittle edges. Cherry notes and candied orange rind Amaro, LL dusted with exotic spices, jitterbug about the mouth. There is still grip, though, but it is silk on a sharp spindle.

Barringwood vineyard is located on a steep north facing slope overlooking the Don Valley in Tasmania's central North. Established in 1993 the vineyard rises to an elevation of 280m and has one of the longest growing seasons in Tasmania giving their wines delicacy, elegance and immense complexity as well as a distinct backbone of cool climate acidity.
Bright plum/soft raspberry red. A nose of cherries and strawberries gives way to savoury undertones of earthiness. Gentle fruit characters give way to a spicy earthy finish. Fine powdery tannins gives this wine elegance and length.
