This pure expression of Sangiovese sees 2 years in neutral wood and bottle before release.
In any vintage, Fontodi Chianti Classico is smashing wine, but in 2017 it is outstanding (maybe the best we have seen). Firm yet well-integrated tannins provide the backdrop for expressive red cherries, licorice, tobacco and spices. In 2075 this Chianti Classico includes grapes usually designated for Flaccianello, making it perform like a ‘baby Flaccianello.’
Sangiovese grapes ferment for two weeks with natural yeasts in temperature-controlled tanks, and the wine ages in barrels for eighteen months before bottling.
