Luigi Bosca was established in 1901 by the Arizu family who still own and operate the winery today. In 1989 the family played a large part in creating Argentina’s first DOC “Lujan de Cuyo”. In all, the family have around 400 hectares of vines in the Lujan de Cuyo and Maipu regions of Mendoza with a number of spectacular Estancias. While this is a heritage winery, being family owned the winery is really progressive, constantly travelling to explore different regions and new wine styles. Luigi Bosca has been one of the first wineries to adopt a modern style of Malbec with their La Linda wines with early picks, lower alcohols, minimal oak and less extraction.
70 yer old vines, 960ml above sea level
Once fermentation is finished, the wine is aged in new French oak barrels in which malolactic conversion takes place and it is matured for 12 to 14 months. Once the ageing is finished, the wine is stabilized, filtered and bottled. It is stored in the winery for at least 6 months before market release.
Luigi Bosca - Malbec D.O.C is one of the first Argentine wines with a Designation of Origin. A deep and bright red violet wine with balanced aromas and red fruit and sweet spice notes. It is refreshing and voluptuous in the mouth, with fine and gentle tannins, while it is clean and expressive in the palate, with a strong character, typicity and a deep finish with soft smoked hues as a result of its ageing in oak barrels. It is a great exponent of the variety and the terroir, with good ageing potential. Perfect to enjoy special dishes, such as a rack of lamb with sauteed mushrooms, a rib eye steak with quinoa risotto, and a cheeseboard.
