The 2017 Reyneke Natural Chenin Blanc was fermented and aged in clay amphora, with, as its name suggests, nary a speck of SO2. The honeyed bouquet of almond and hazelnut develops light estuarine scents mixed with clay over time. The palate is very well balanced with a fine line of acidity, and quite saline on the entry, with good weight. Not as viscous as the nose suggests thanks to the acidity, it offers a long lemongrass finish that conveys a sense of energy. This is another outstanding Chenin from Reyneke.
