Rich, deep and dark-maroon to look at, with an intriguing, fruits-and-beasts-of-the-forest nose that runs the gamut from mahogany and sous-bois to dark chocolate-berry sponge cake and a slight, almost animalistic hint of musk, the 2015 Muse Cabernet Sauvignon is a thoroughly intriguing wine. On the palate, the tannins are dense and complex (promising a very long life), with lingering sour cherry, dried berries, and shades of cappucino (plenty of chocolate sprinkles) topped by a slightly-above-medium acidity. Pair it with something spicy in its youth or give it some time to open up in the cellar.
It’s polished, ripe and flushed with delicious berried fruit. It feels and tastes cool climate, it has a mouth-watering aspect to it, but it's also generous and warm-hearted. Chocolate, boysenberry, mint and grassy herbs are at the tiller. In the end its quality is undeniable. A fine and long future awaits.
