The second release that comes off a high-density north-east facing vineyard (7700 to 10250 vines per ha), comprising 12 clones planted on old volcanic basalt with ferrosols soil. Not a great hue; an earthy wine and obviously stemmy (80% whole bunches in the ferment) with morello and red cherries, wood char and smoke, juniper berries and a hint of balsam. The palate needs more flesh to manage the tight firm tannins and the pulsating acidity.
