Bright cherry red in colour, the wine is light on its feet with 'pretty' and perfumed red berried fruits, some dried herb complexity and superb carry of vibrant silky textured fruit character. A wine of seamless elegance and class that drinks magnificently now, and will reward careful cellaring. Quite intentionally in the lighter end of the medium bodied spectrum, but definitely punches well above its weight.

It’s fair to say that 2017 was a wonderful vintage in the Hunter Valley for reds. I think this is the wine that’s cut with a bit of Trebbiano or Semillon to give it a more natural line of acidity.
Blackberry, floral top notes, and frankly, quite a pretty wine from a pretty rugged looking fellow. Medium bodied, gentle earthiness and spice, clean almost cranberry acidity and flavour, fine powdery tannin, and a long, crisp and energetic finish. It’s got a bit of what you might call ‘Beaujolais smashabilty’ about it. It’s very good.

From the old vine Trevena Vineyard, fermented with a plash of semillon verjuice. This is plush and gently velvety, providing dark fruits to dwell on, but not catch you in a fruit trap. It flows evenly and leads you without fuss to its perfectly balanced finish.
