Domaine du Pélican, based in Montigny-les-Arsures, near Arbois, Jura, was started in 2012 by Guillaume d’Angerville, of Domaine Marquis d’Angerville in Volnay, Burgundy, and François Duvivier, régisseur at Domaine Marquis d’Angerville. Domaine du Pélican farms high quality terroirs located in and around the city of Arbois, with the aim to create a new, high quality domaine based in this magnificent region, with strong winemaking traditions. The wines are vinified, barrelled and bottled locally, on the estate.
The nose of the 2018 Arbois Poulsard is quite expressive and agreeable for such a young wine. Tasted from a large oak vat, the wine had finished fermentation and malolactic and will be ready to be bottled after the spring. This is bright and lively, expressive, aromatic and open, quite elegant, with some tannins. They picked a little early, and the wine is somewhat herbaceous.
